The Christmas season shines at the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony
By Jillian Chandler
Shops have begun decorating their storefronts in the spirit of the season, as children anticipate one of their most favorite holidays of the year—Christmas! Once the joys and stresses of Thanksgiving have passed, and you’re enjoying the long weekend spending time with company from near and far, there’s an event you’ll want to be sure to want to attend—together. It is the moment the spirit of the Christmas holiday truly comes alive here in Sandpoint, and it’s one you will not want to miss!
Gather with family, friends and your neighbors for this year’s Tree Lighting Ceremony, which will be held at Jeff Jones Town Square (323 South 3rd Avenue) the day after Thanksgiving—Friday, November 27.
The festivities kick off at 5pm and are replete with the sounds of Christmas thanks to the Suzuki String Academy, who will be performing. There will also be dance performances by Allegro Dance Studio. Though you’ll want to bundle up in your warmest coats, boots, mittens and hats, there will be hot coffee, cocoa and cider to help beat the cold, along with delicious baked goods. The highlight of the event, of course, is the tree lighting itself! With a flick of the switch, the tree will come aglow at 6pm, shining bright for all to see. And don’t rush to leave, as someone in a big red suit and hat will be making a special appearance on a bright red firetruck soon after!
The spirit of the holiday season in Sandpoint is alive and well. Come celebrate this joyful time with those in your community. It’s sure to warm your heart and leave you smiling.
