A celebration of community
By Abigail Thorpe
September 19 marks the fourth annual Ponderay Neighbor Day, when the community is invited to come out and celebrate bringing people together, connecting communities, and building shoreline access for all to enjoy.
Co-hosted by the City of Ponderay and the Friends of the Pend d’Oreille Bay Trail, the event will take place at Harbison Field behind Hoot Owl from 1 to 6pm and is free for the public to attend. Enjoy getting together with your neighbors, explore some great food, arts and crafts from local vendors, and learn about local recreation and connection projects.
This year residents are invited to learn more about the Front Yard Project—a cleanup of the city’s shoreline property by Black Rock.
In addition to celebrating the connection of our communities and residents, the event will include a beer garden provided by Sweet Lou’s, food vendors, kids activities, live music, inflatables, a rock climbing wall, pony rides and a petting zoo.
The event is sponsored in full by local businesses, and this year, thanks to Avista’s support, rather than having to rely on generators, the event will have full power access at the city site.
Food vendors are invited to join at no cost—there is a $50 refundable deposit to hold your spot. If you would like to participate as a vendor or sponsor the event, contact KayLeigh Miller at 208.265.5468 or klmiller@ponderay.org.
Come out and enjoy some fun in the sun, support local businesses and find out how you can be a part of helping to connect our communities. For more information about sponsors or to learn more about the event, visit CityofPonderay.org/ponderay-neighbor-day.
